My name is Cathy Todd I live in the warm gracious state of Georgia, with my husband Raymond, daughters Heather and Jessica and of course my Beloved Grandson's Blake and Justin. Georgians are known for our hospitality and gentle nature, as our lovely Cockers. I was given a Black American Cocker female by my father on my 13th birthday. She was just pet quality but became the love of my life, she was my best friend and could keep all my little girl secrets. With those dark deer like eyes she understood all my thoughts and dreams. She guarded me at night and kissed away all my tears. I begged my father to let us breed her so I could have another one just like her. He made arrangements with the lady that he had purchased her from to breed her. With the resulting litter of 6 she and the puppies gave this little girl an education that would last a life time. The enchantment of the birth of a new life captivated me. The puppies were give to friends and family and of course we kept one of her little girls, it was so amazing to me how my lovely little girl had passed her tender love,intelligence and love of life on to her babies. That was all it took!! I was hooked for life. To watch the creation of life and the growth of the babies and the personalities form was just so amazing to me. For me, there is no other breed. My little girl left me 13 years later and is now waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge. I have so so much to thank her for. I know that she has been watching over me all these years, learning and growing with this breed. To this day every time a little black girl is born I look deep into those eyes to see if she is there. My knowledge has grown over the years through showing and breeding these lovely dogs. With the help of other knowledgeable breeders before me I breed only to better the dogs that I have thru their babies. To watch a puppy grow into a better dog than their mother and father is to me the most rewarding experience anyone can only be proud of and treasure. For a while we transferred this knowledge to Horses. My daughter Heather and I bred, showed and trained Three Day Event Horses. Breeding horses and competing was a very rewarding experience. But something was totally missing out of our life. It just wasn't the same, something was totally missing from our lives. We had to have a happy merry Cocker to be complete. My husband Raymond and I and my family returned to our first love. The joy and privilege of helping this breed better itself and to help other people find their perfect friend and companion has given us a lifetime of great joy. Every litter in our home has a purpose. We don't just have puppies. We breed to have a puppy for ourselves to show again or become an important genetic foundation male or female. The other puppies are placed into other show homes or for companions. TO ME EVERY PUPPY IS A CHAMPION IN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER. If I have heard this once Ive heard this a thousand times, "I just want a pet". Each and everyone that adds a purebred dog to their family should realize that yes they want a pet but you also want a pet that will represent the breed you wanted as best as it can. Thus, the puppy that you receive from C-Ray Cockers will either be show quality or very close to it. You want a puppy that came from a litter that the breeders intentions was for a show puppy for themselves or for someones request. All puppies don't make it into the show ring for one reason or the other, but you WILL receive an outstanding well socialized companion. Either for the Ringside of Fireside of your home the qualities of this breed are passed on. My whole family helps socialize our puppies with lots of love and human companionship from the day they are born. This is not just an idle statement. I truly and totally believe that this early imprinting is critical to a good well rounded adult dog. Our puppies are in our home and the center of attention, they are not kept in a kennel puppy house only to see a human once or twice a day just at feeding time. Please take this into great consideration when you choose a new family member. We are devoted to this breed and the third generation of C-Ray Cocker family members are easy to see in my Grandson's Blake and Justin. |
